How an ADHD/LD Kid Graduated from Yale and Cambridge and Became a Marine Officer
Growing up, I was always the "different" kid. I had trouble paying attention, I was easily distracted, and I struggled with learning disabilities. In school, I was often the last one to finish my work, and I often had to ask for help from my teachers. I was also very shy and introverted, and I had a hard time making friends.

Despite all of my challenges, I always had a dream of attending Yale University. I knew it would be a difficult journey, but I was determined to prove to myself and to the world that I could succeed despite my ADHD and learning disabilities.
I started studying hard in high school, and I eventually graduated valedictorian of my class. I was accepted to Yale, and I was thrilled to finally be able to pursue my dream. Yale was even more challenging than I had imagined, but I was determined to succeed. I studied long hours, and I sought out help from my professors and classmates. I also joined a support group for students with ADHD and learning disabilities.
With the help of my support group, I was able to develop strategies for coping with my ADHD and learning disabilities. I learned how to manage my time better, how to stay focused, and how to overcome my procrastination. I also learned how to advocate for myself and to ask for the help that I needed.
After graduating from Yale, I decided to pursue a career in the military. I was drawn to the Marines because of their commitment to excellence and their reputation for being the best of the best. I knew that it would be a challenging career, but I was confident that I could succeed.
Officer Candidate School (OCS) was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. I was constantly pushed to my limits, both physically and mentally. But I never gave up. I drew on the lessons that I had learned in my support group, and I relied on the support of my fellow Marines. I graduated from OCS and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
I am now serving as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. I am responsible for leading a platoon of Marines, and I am proud to serve my country.
My journey from being a young kid with ADHD and learning disabilities to a Marine officer has been a long and challenging one. But I am grateful for the challenges that I have faced, because they have made me the person that I am today. I am proud of my accomplishments, and I am committed to continuing to serve my country and to making a difference in the world.
