The ship was 882 feet long and weighed 45,000 tons. It had a capacity of 2,435 passengers and 900 crew members. RMS Olympic was powered by two triple-expansion steam engines and two Parsons turbines. The ship could reach a speed of 23 knots.

Brian Hawley

Brian Hawley was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1881. He began working at the Harland and Wolff shipyard as an apprentice shipbuilder in 1897. Hawley quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the shipyard's most skilled shipbuilders. He was involved in the construction of a number of famous ships, including RMS Titanic and RMS Olympic.

Hawley was a close friend of Thomas Andrews, the chief designer of RMS Titanic and RMS Olympic. Hawley was one of the last people to see Andrews alive before the Titanic sank in 1912.

After the Titanic disaster, Hawley continued to work at the Harland and Wolff shipyard. He was involved in the construction of a number of other ships, including RMS Britannic and RMS Aquitania. Hawley retired from the shipyard in 1946.

Hawley died in Belfast in 1969. He was 88 years old.
