One of the best ways to experience Amherst is to take a walking tour of the town. There are a number of different walking tours available, each with its own unique focus. One popular walking tour is the "Look Up America" series, which highlights the town's architecture.

The "Look Up America" walking tour is a self-guided tour that takes you past some of Amherst's most famous buildings. The tour includes stops at the homes of Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost, as well as the Amherst College campus.

The Tour

The "Look Up America" walking tour begins at the Amherst Town Common. The Common is a large, open space in the center of town. It is surrounded by a number of historic buildings, including the Amherst Town Hall and the First Congregational Church.

From the Common, the tour heads down Main Street. Main Street is Amherst's main commercial street. It is lined with a variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The tour continues down Main Street to the Amherst College campus. The campus is home to a number of beautiful buildings, including the College Church and the Pratt Museum of Art.

From the Amherst College campus, the tour heads back down Main Street to the Emily Dickinson Homestead. The Homestead is where Emily Dickinson lived and wrote most of her poetry.

From the Emily Dickinson Homestead, the tour heads to the Robert Frost Farm. The Farm is where Robert Frost lived and wrote some of his most famous poems.

The tour ends at the Robert Frost Farm.

The "Look Up America" walking tour is a great way to experience Amherst's history and culture. The tour takes you past some of the town's most famous landmarks, and it provides you with a unique perspective on the town's architecture.
